South River Cleanup: TRASH + TIRE TRIO!

 

SRWA + Rivers Alive present… TRASH + TIRE TRIO!

This event is free and open to the public. There are 3 cleanups (with 4 options for a participating):

  • LAND CREW: Panola Shoals Trailhead & Beach // 9:30am - 12:30pm
    Volunteers will remove trash from the beach and river channel. Closed-toed shoes required. Kids 12+ welcome with adult supervision.

  • LAND CREW: Everett Park & Albert Shoals // 9:30am - 12:30pm
    Volunteers will remove trash along the river at Albert Shoals, one of the most scenic sites along this section of the river. Closed-toed shoes required. Kids 12+ welcome with adult supervision.

  • WATER CREWS: Can Cleanup or Tire Cleanup // 9:30am - 4:00pm
    Arrive at Panola Mtn State Park Alexander Lake parking lot to catch the shuttle to Panola Shoals. Event is several hours on the river, however it may end earlier than 4pm.

  • Can Cleanup in Kayaks: Volunteers will collect aluminum cans and trash in kayaks from Panola Shoals to Panola Mtn State Park. Basic kayaking skills recommended. 18+ only.

  • Tire Cleanup in Canoes: Volunteers will pair up in canoes to collect tires from Panola Shoals to Panola Mtn State Park. This activity is strenuous and rewarding. Participants must have prior, basic canoeing experience. 18+ only.

The success of this event depends on teamwork! Please arrive on time.
